“Heart failure imposes a huge physiologic, psychologic and financial burden on everyone it touches,” explained Dr. Arman Askari of Premier Health Advocates.  Without going into too much detail Dr. Askari stated “the key to managing people with this condition is to ensure everyone involved in the care of these people has a basic understanding of heart failure and to selectively enhance that understanding for those with increasing responsibility.”

Heart Failure imposes an enormous physiologic, functional, psychologic, and economic burden on all involved with it or with its care.  In 2010, the costs attributable to HF approached $40 billion.   Unplanned hospital re-admissions accounted for approximately 75% of the direct costs of HF.

“With the use of simple techniques we have mastered, we have been able to keep people who used to be frequently readmitted out of the hospital for extended periods of time,” explained Dr. John Stephens of Premier Health Advocates.”  ”The focus of our heart failure initiative is on the most important aspect of health care.  With this focus we can improve the functional and financial situation for all involved,” said Dr. Stephens.
